Recently, Sungrow, the global leading inverter solution supplier for renewables, announced its SC2500UD is accredited by the Thai Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), shortly after the SC50HV, which was just listed in December, 2021. SC2500 UD composes the Power Conversion System unit (PCS) of the most innovative Liquid-Cooled Energy Storage System of Sungrow. The Liquid-Cooled ESS also supplies the 136.24 MWh PV plus ESS project of Super Energy in Thailand.
The PEA upholds the most important technological standards to ensure the safety and stability of the Thai grid remains intact. The PEA accreditation attests to the SC2500UD’s excellent performance and high adaptability to Thailand’s renewable energy sector. To assure a successful PEA listing, Sungrow set up a particular laboratory to test SC2500UD and other inverter equipment sold to Thai market. This laboratory now takes the honor to be an enterprise-level laboratory gaining accreditation by PEA, too.
SC2500UD is by far the most powerful PCS among all the other PCS listed by the PEA. Boasting 2.5 MW of power, it can operate in full power at 1500V inputs with a max. efficiency of 99%. Hence, it is compatible to high voltage battery system and store more electricity. Further, as ESS is mainly used to stabilize power supply and make the grid more resilient when renewable energy is connected, SC2500UD is equipped with outstanding features to achieve ESS applications. It can operate well even if the SCR is low to 1.02, indicating its strong adaptability to grid. It satisfies almost all standards of power distribution including the IEC61850. Moreover, under the control of Sungrow’s smart energy management system (EMS), it responds quickly to the grid requirement in less than 20ms. All these industry-leading functions enable the constant clean power supply in the 136.24MWh Super ESS project and constant power is an incomparable advantage for quicker grid connection.
SC2500UD is an economical PCS tailored for utility-scale ESS projects, as it can be well integrated with other core ESS components Sungrow offers such as the battery, DC/DC, and BMS. Therefore, Sungrow’s integrated ESS solutions can simplify the transportation, installation, and on-site debugging, and ensure long term smooth operation. The LCOE is much lower compared to other unintegrated solutions. The Sungrow team based in Thailand also offers comprehensive post-sales O&M services to all ESS devices.
Now, with SC50HV, the PCS for C&I ESS market, and SC2500UD, the PCS for Utility-Scale ESS market being listed on PEA, together will a series of successful projects commissioned in Thailand, Sungrow has been strategically deploying this quickly-growing renewable energy market, and is exploring its potential for more possibilities. In the future, Sungrow will continue to deliver innovative products for multi-scenario electricity generation and storage and vies to maintain the leading position in the Thai renewable energy industry, to contribute to the realization of the Thai Energy 4.0 Strategy.
