Santiago, Chile, May 9th, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Sungrow, the global leading inverter and energy storage system solution supplier, partnered with Orion Power to supply more than 100 MW of its inverter solutions to over 20 small and medium-sized solar projects in Chile under the PMGD regulation, facilitating the Chilean energy transition with joint expertise and experience.
The PMGD regulation promoted by the Chilean government encourages the development of such projects and allows energy producers with a maximum capacity of 9 MW to connect to the grid and sell their excess energy to distribution companies. The projects, located between the III and VII Region in Chile, will generate on average more than 200 GWh per year and reduce over 70,000 tons of CO2 annually.
Sungrow’s 3 MW central inverter solution, renowned for its high efficiency, reliability, and flexibility, was selected for these distributed projects. The inverter solution is equipped with the battery adaptive option for potential energy storage demand in the future and is compatible with bifacial modules and tracking systems, enabling higher yields for the solar project.
The developer and EPC of these projects, Orion Power, commented: "We are very pleased with Sungrow's inverters and their professional services, reinforcing our competitive advantages in the industry. We look forward to teaming up with Sungrow to lead the way toward a greener and sustainable future in Chile,” said Felipe Cosmelli, partner and CO-CEO of Orion Power.
"We appreciate the continued trust of Orion Power. The PMGD regulation provides a good opportunity for us to commit to renewable energy projects in Chile. We will continue to provide reliable and competitive solutions to support our shared clean energy goals," said Gonzalo Feito, Director of Sungrow Andean Region.
