Sungrow's Distribution Network in Greece Ready to Support the New Residential Scheme

Homeowners and farmers in Greece are set to benefit from a new €238 million subsidy scheme covering solar projects for small solar home systems in the residential and agricultural sectors. Sungrow’s local team in Greece is ready to provide customers with products included in the programme.

Athens, Greece 2.06.23 -  Greece’s Ministry of Environment and Energy has announced a new subsidy programme for residential solar systems. Launching this May, the scheme allows Greek households to apply for up to €16,000 per household to cover the purchase and installation of small PV arrays and energy storage systems.

Both rooftop and ground-mounted systems will be eligible for the subsidies, with households able to install up to 10.8 kW of PV capacity and 10.8 kWh of battery storage. As a global solar company, Sungrow has a local team in Greece ready to serve Greek households looking to benefit from the subsidy scheme. Sungrow has a reputation for excellence and was named the only inverter brand with 100% bankability by BloombergNEF in 2022 under their PV Module and Inverter Bankability Survey. This makes Sungrow the most bankable brand for the fourth consecutive year.

Under the scheme, homeowners will be eligible for a subsidy payment covering a number of Sungrow solar solutions. Two inverter product lines suitable for residential installation are covered. The smallest of which is the Residential 1-phase Hybrid Inverter (SH3.0-6.0RS) - ideal for new installations with 80 - 460 V wide battery voltage range, plug and play installation, and built-in backup solution. For slightly larger systems, there is the Residential 3-phase Hybrid Inverter (SH5.0-10RT) available. The inverter also comes with an integrated backup solution and has an SG-Ready interface for connecting e.g. a heat pump.

It is mandatory for homeowners accessing the subsidy scheme to include a battery in their setup. The Sungrow LFP Battery is the ideal solution with high safety and performance standards and up to 30 A continuous charging and discharging current with high efficiency. In combination with the 3-phase Hybrid, the battery is suitable for PV systems from 9.6 kWh to 25.6 kWh. For homeowners looking for a smaller set up, Sungrow has recently launched a battery with 6.4 kWh compatible with the 1-phase Hybrid, covered by the subsidy scheme. The modular design of the battery makes it very quick and easy to install. Both, Sungrow’s Residential inverters and battery come with a standard warranty of 10 years. Another advantage is that both devices, inverter plus battery and can be monitored via the same free-of-charge platform, iSolarCloud.

Greece is an ideal market for solar home systems and this new subsidy scheme will enable more Greek households to achieve energy independence and use the abundant power of the sun.

For homeowners looking to further electrify and modify their solar home setup, Sungrow even offers a residential EV charger that is compatible with electric vehicles available on the market and can be used with the Sungrow 3-phase Hybrid Inverter or as a stand-alone product.

Anastasios Gkinis, Director UK, Southeastern Europe and CIS at Sungrow, says:

“Sungrow welcomes the Greek government's new residential solar subsidy. We are delighted to inform homeowners that our PV and battery systems are available under the scheme and our local installation and distribution teams are able to install our solar products that our customers can have 100% confidence in. With our market-leading knowledge and experience, we are ready to provide homeowners with reliable, efficient and cost-effective solar solutions.”

As a global leader in the solar industry, and operations in more than 150 countries, Sungrow works directly with local distributors to support the setup and installation of solar solutions. Sungrow has installed residential solar projects across Europe, Asia and Australia, delivering high-quality, high-efficiency solar inverter and storage system solutions. Sungrows total installed capacity of inverter equipment worldwide is more than 340 GW as of the end of December 2022.

Now, Sungrow distributors in Greece are available and committed to connecting customers to solar PV with Sungrow products, to help them start harvesting the power of the sun. All of the distributors have been active on the Greek market for a long time and stand for high-quality products and service. The expertise, and professional network of the distributors as well as Sungrow’s strong product portfolio, are the perfect combination to supply the Greek market with Residential PV solutions.
