Guadalajara, México, April 23rd, 2024 - Sungrow, a global leading PV inverter and ESS provider, showcased its avant-garde renewable energy solutions at the Solar+ Storage México 2024 Expo, including notable products such as the “1+X” modular inverter, the ultra-powerful SG350CX string inverter, and the C&I energy storage system, PowerStack. This demonstration underscored the company's dedication to supporting Latin America's transition towards renewable energy.
Latin America boasts an unparalleled abundance of solar energy resources, coupled with unique advantages in the advancement of renewable energy. Presently, numerous Latin American nations have prioritized energy transformation as a crucial aspect of their national sustainable development strategies, implementing a comprehensive array of supportive policies. Mexico, a prominent economic force within the region, enjoys an annual average of 2,190 hours of sunshine, positioning it as a key player in the global renewable energy market. Furthermore, Mexico has pledged to achieve a renewable energy installed capacity of 30 gigawatts by the year 2030.
Innovative and cutting-edge renewable energy solutions tailored to utility-scale applications
During the expo, Sungrow introduced its ambitious and unique utility-scale renewable energy solutions, including the "1+X" modular inverter and the SG350CX string inverter. These solutions aim to maximize efficiency and flexibility, meeting the diverse needs of customers. The “1+X” Modular Inverter boasts a minimum capacity of 1.1 MW for a single unit, which can be expanded to a maximum of 8.8 MW by combining eight units. Customers can thus select a capacity ranging from 1.1 MW to 8.8 MW to suit their specific requirements. Additionally, the next-generation SG350CX is tailored for utility-scale PV plants, offering reduced LCOE, enhanced protection, and robust grid support.
PowerStack: the ideal choice for the C&I energy storage market
Mexico’s energy storage systems hold immense potential in the commercial and industrial (C&I) solar market. Alicia Sosa, a member of the Sungrow Engineering&Technical Service Team, emphasized that Mexico’s diverse industrial landscape, not limited to a specific city or region, combined with its abundant sunshine and high electricity rates, creates a prime environment for lucrative development opportunities and the proliferation of C&I projects utilizing energy storage systems.
Sungrow presents the PowerStack energy storage system, which encompasses a capacity ranging from 250kWh to 4MWh, capable of providing electricity for durations ranging from 2 to 4 hours. By installing the PowerStack, the surplus energy generated throughout daylight hours can be stored and effectively utilized during peak electricity prices and power outages. Furthermore, the PowerStack can be seamlessly integrated into off-grid systems, ensuring maximum adaptability. This approach not only enhances the efficient utilization of clean energy but also maximizes the return on investment, offering a win-win solution for both environmental sustainability and financial gain.
Ada Li, Vice President of Sungrow Americas, said, “As we journey south from Mexico, Latin America emerges as a continent that is not only incredibly appealing but also well-established as a successful hub for renewable energy investments. Sungrow consistently demonstrates its position as a leading brand, offering top-tier solutions for the deployment of local solar energy plants. One noteworthy collaboration is with ENGIE, who together inaugurated the Coya project in northern Chile. This project boasts the distinction of being the world's largest DC-coupled solar plant with an energy storage system, totaling 638MWh. This remarkable feat is a testament to Sungrow's proficiency in its products and the extensive human resources it possesses to bring such projects to fruition, greatly enhancing the solar energy landscape.”
