Sungrow steps up efforts to integrate green design into the R&D system, takes measures such as lightweighting and hazardous substance control into consideration during the stages of product development and technical research, reduces the generation of industrial solid waste through optimized designs, and promotes the recycling of renewable resources. Battery modules need to be bundled with steel belts. Despite high strength, the steel belts are dense and costly. Through simulation, it’s found that the basalt plastic belt structure can meet the expansion force requirements of battery modules. The replacement of steel belts with basalt plastic belts could reduce the weight of a set of battery modules by at least 0.4kg.

Sungrow attaches importance to the protection of ecology and biodiversity during project development. In the process of developing and constructing new energy power stations, we respect, conform to, and protect nature. In 2023, the Company released a new version of the Photovoltaic and Wind Power Development Manual, clarifying the standards for project compliance inspection and fully considering the scope of prohibitive and restrictive factors, so as to pursue development in accordance with relevant policies, laws and regulations to avoid risks. Before the project site is selected, a certified third-party agency should conduct a biodiversity and bird migration assessment and issue a report to ensure that the project site does not occupy or affect biodiversity and bird migration routes. At the same time, targeted measures have been taken by the company to address potential ecological issues such as soil erosion, sewage, and fire. An environmental factor control ledger has been established throughout the construction process, and inspections and acceptance of green construction have been organized.

Factory operating will generate waste gas, wastewater, and waste during production activities. How we manage these pollutants will affect the air, soil, and groundwater environment of factories and surrounding communities, and their transportation and final disposal methods may also have environmental impacts. Sungrow is promoting green operation by setting targets and strengthening management for pollutant and waste emissions, with a 100% coverage rate of the environmental management system. The company has set a 2023 target of 13.5 tons for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) emissions, a total target of 1130 tons for general waste, and a total net freshwater consumption target of 560,000 m³. Additionally, targets have been established for 2025 to reduce VOC emissions per unit product by 30% compared to 2020, and particulate matter emissions by 75%. The actual emission intensity is expected to decrease by 46.4% and 87.1% in 2023. For hazardous waste, all disposal methods comply with legal requirements and are entrusted to third-party organizations for disposal, including recycling, incineration, and temporary storage.
